Update on Green Dot and the Los Angeles School Union

This is good news for the children in Watts, which has a 3% high school graduation rate. We reported earlier that the Los Angeles School Board was unable to come up with enough votes to allow new charter schools to be created.

edpresso.com reports that one member of the Los Angeles School Board has changed his mind and decided to allow Green Dot to open 8 charter schools in Watts. It looks like public pressure forced Jon Lauritzen to revaluate his support of teachers' unions. One of the two board members still against Green Dot charter schools was very vocal in her opposition.

I wonder if she'll change her tune when she comes up for reelection.
