Another example of teachers unions blocking efforts to help children

From Los Angeles is a sad story of a private organization that tried to setup some charter schools to help children in Watts. Susan Estrich writes than Green Dot has successfully run other charter schools. The high school graduation rate in Watts is a dismal 3%. That is not a typo, three percent.

So when Green Dot came with a proposal to open some charter schools, you think it would be a no brainer, that the school board would thank them and give their approval. Six board members voted. The three that took over a million dollars from teachers unions said no.

The teachers unions are protected and the children in Watts continue to suffer.
