More homeschooling news via Google Alerts

The following homeschooling articles were found via Google alerts.

The Lincoln Tribune reports that Congressman Patrick McHenry (R-NC) is hosting a town hall meeting for families that homeschool their children on Saturday, August 12th. He says "I believe parents - not the federal government - know how to best educate their children ..." Go here for the details. He sounds like a Congressman I'd vote for.

Monica Cane writes about her road to homeschooling in the Manteca Bulletin. She is going through the Waters Charter School. We eased slowly into homeschooling via a charter school. For the first half of kindegarten of our oldest daughter we were under the umbrella of a charter school. The poltics changed and we lost the option, but never considered sending our daughter to a public school.

Michael Smith, president of the HSLDA, write a good column about how homeschoolers have proven that they are successful in being able to educate their children, but that many educrates continue to want more testing.
