Wired has suggestions on being an more effective blogger from David L. Sifry, founder and CEO of Technorati: 1) React quickly 2) Make your posts easy to read 3) Link, link, link! 4) Optimize for search engines 5) Post, post, post! Read the article for more details.

At Guilt-Free Homeschooling Carolyn makes the point that homeschoolers see education in a different light. Most people in public schools see education as something which is done after 12th grade or college, but homeschoolers recognize that learning is (or should be) a life long process. One of the main reasons we homeschool is to make sure our daughters don't lose their love of learning. Most five year old children are constantly asking questions, trying to understand the world. But by 18, most young adults have learned that education is something they have to do.

Daniel has a provacative post The Difference between You and Mozart? You're Lazy! at Key Words. Daniel found a Sciencetic American article that reports that the most experts become experts by working hard. I liked this line from the article: "Ericsson argues that what matters is not experience per se but 'effortful study,' which entails continually tackling challenges that lie just beyond one's competence." There was even a homeschooling tie in: "László Polgár, an educator in Hungary, homeschooled his three daughters in chess, assigning as much as six hours of work a day, producing one international master and two grandmasters--the strongest chess-playing siblings in history." It is a good article, well worth reading, twice.
