Selections from reddit - 9 March 2006

I'm enjoying reddit more each week. Here are a few of the selections I found interesting this morning:

From the UK, Guardian Unlimited writes about how doing mental exercises can make you cleverer. I guess I'll have to start doing Sudoku again.

Jared Diamond, author of Guns, Germs, and Steel, writes about lessons from history for getting rich.

At Agilent Technologies Educator's Corner is an updated version of a classic joke about the evolution of teaching math over the last fifty years. Here was the line for the 1980: "Teaching Math in 1980: A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. Her cost of production is $80 and her profit is $20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20."
