Most every morning I'll start up a set of scripts to bring up Internet Explorer with the various blogs I like to check on. Since the blogosphere is exploding so fast I'm often looking for new homeschooling blogs. One of the reasons for looking for new homeschool bloggers is to inform them about the Carnival of Homeschooling, and encourage them to submit a post.
My scripts include the URLs various search engines. For example I like Google's blog search engine when searching for homeschooling. Technorati is also very good. Technorati has several different ways to look around the blogosphere. The first is a normal search. The second is searching for posts tagged with a specific keyword. Technorati also has an option to look for blogs which it thinks are the most authoritative for a give topic.
Another cool feature with both Google and Technorati is to see who is linking to my blog. Here is Google's report, and Technorati's report.
I have been using The Truth Laid Bear (TTLB) to see who links to our blog. Today I realized that the TTLB also has a good selection of new posts about homeschooling. Unfortunately I don't see a way to have a permanent URL which always searches for homeschool. From here I entered "homeschool" in Search for Topic. I found several new blogs. A down side is TTLB only searches through blogs which register with it.
