One of my brothers pointed me to an Essay Contest. The contest allows homeschoolers to participate!
The essay should be in response to: "What civic value do you believe is most essential to being an American?"
I've asked my oldest daughter to send in an essay.

The best part is - Home school families win double the prizes, because student winners and their teacher/parent winner cash prizes!
What percentage of the entrants do you estimate will answer something other than "liberty"?
I suspect it'll be a majority and that scares me...
I agree that Liberty is an important one.
I talked with my daughter about contest. Her first response was "righteousness" but she didn't think it had a chance of winning. She is already working on a couple essays, for school work, and didn't think she'd apply for this. I'll encourage her at least one more time.
