The video of our interview

Thursday Garvin Thomas of NBC Channel 11, of the San Francisco Bay Area, came to our house and interviewed us about the recent court ruling in California which seems to outlaw homeschooling. He was professional and asked good questions. It was an interesting experience to be part of the nightly news.

Garvin has graciously made his report available:

I'm having trouble getting the report to play in Internet Explorer, so you may need to go here to watch it.

Thanks for the link to the 'other' site, Henry. I've got IE, and you're right, it wasn't working.

Hi! I am a regular reader of your blog and thought it was really fun to see and hear from your family (though the situation that brought the news story about is not so fun.)

It seems as though the news story was fair and you guys looked great! Thanks for making us all look good!

I thought Janine looked just fine (oh, ok, you did too, Henry! :-) You did a great job representing homeschoolers.

I was so excited to see you two on camera! We even got to see your kitchen! LOL.

Great job with the interview.

You were brave to also do a little taping of your girls "doing homeschooling" work.

It was neat to see what you really look like compared to my imagination. Janine looks so kind hearted, gentle and happy.

You are so kind. I think I looked a little mad and a couple camera angles were not attractive. I mad such a comment to Henry and one of daughters replied, "Oh Mom, you just looked tired." Gee thanks.

Henry and I made little note to our selves to remember to smile more next time and I will break down and wear makeup.

All in all, I think they did a pretty fair job. The "school work" at the table was totally staged. The cameraman said that I was too tall and he couldn't fit both me and the kids in the picture. So, they asked me to sit down at the table.
