Links to interesting postings - 2 October 2006

Joanne Jacobs found that "Berkeley is putting dozens of classes online for free viewing via Google Video." If you have children interested in college level learning you might check this out.

At MInTheGap is a report of a school in the UK that decided because they didn't have enough teachers that the ten and eleven year old boys and girl would change their clothes for gym in the same open room. The really sad thing is those in charge will probably get their hands slapped, but little more.

At the Mises Economics Blog is the following: "WorldNetDaily.com is reporting that the House has passed a bill that appears to allow strip searches of public school students in order to 'ensure that classrooms, school buildings, school property and students remain free from the threat of all weapons, dangerous materials, or illegal narcotics.'" Again, how are prisons different than public schools? (Hat tip: The Homeschooling Revolution.)

I haven't mentioned the Astronomy Picture of the Day for awhile. The picture of the Central IC1 1805 is breath taking. There is something overwhelming about galaxies. These two, NGC 5905 and 5908, are both spectacular.
