Tuition at Stanford University can break the bank.
But Stanford has been making some of their course available to the public, for free! Molly Goossens reports in A Stanford education (free!):
----------
This time they’re offering 7 computer science courses:
Computer Science 101 http://www.cs101-class.org/
Machine Learning (one of the offerings this past fall) http://jan2012.ml-class.org/
Software as a Service http://www.saas-class.org/
Human-Computer Interaction http://www.hci-class.org/
Natural Language Processing http://www.nlp-class.org/
Game Theory http://www.game-theory-class.org/
Probabilistic Graphical Models http://www.pgm-class.org/
Cryptography http://www.crypto-class.org/
And two entrepreneurship courses:
The Lean Launchpad http://www.launchpad-class.org/
Technology Entrepreneurship http://www.venture-class.org/
No tuition, no textbooks, no set class times (students get a week to complete the assignments). The only downside is that you probably don’t have time to do them all.

The Stanford Engineering Everywhere program offers online access to full courses in the school's engineering program—including classes in computer science and artificial intelligence.
That's cool!. Maybe these universities are starting to see their tuition is unsustainable for too many.
I've always admired the gutsiness of MIT offering all their courses online. It's a treasure.
Stanford education is very flexible so that anybody can access to complete lecture videos via streaming or downloaded media anytime and anywhere. The method of study is also simple like View lecture videos, access reading lists and other course handouts, take quizzes and tests, and communicate with other SEE students, all at your convenience.
