Who is John Galt?
Janine and I will be watching Atlas Shrugged Thursday evening:
I want to see it too. But since I am not John Galt, I have to wait for it to come to the discount theater. ;-)
I find Ayn Rand interesting but I'm not sure about her philosophy. I ran across this interesting article: http://www.redstate.com/leon_h_wolf/2011/04/13/rejecting-the-cult-of-ayn-rand/
I haven't read any of her writings, but understand the main theme of Atlas Shrugged. Watch her interviews with Phil Donahue and/or Mike Wallace on youtube. I came away with the same views that these two commenters did (starting with The Flaw) on the article Gary linked to:
I'm sure the video will be out on DVD and via Netflix fairly soon, so there should be a few cheap options.
I read "Atlas Shrugged" when I was sixteen or seventeen. I don't agree with everything Ayn Rand preaches, but I do like her point that just because a large group of people want something does not make it morally right for the government to use force to take away wealth from those who have earned it.
She was way off base on her ideas of sex and religion.
