Helen Keller: Security is mostly a superstition

From Dan Galvin's Thought For The Day mailing list:

Security is mostly a superstition.  It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it.  Avoiding danger is not safer in the long run than outright exposure.  Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.-Helen Keller

I think there is a lot of truth to this.  Too often we want to feel totally safe.  There is a lot we can do to be prepared, so put money aside, develop more skills and be ready for hard times.  But there is no way to avoid danger.  By being prepared we more easily weather the adversities life throws at us.
