Federal Government spending is not helping education

Andrew Coulson recently gave testimoney at the US House of Representatives.  The Impact of Federal Involvement in America's Classrooms is the text of his testimony.

The graphs show that all the involvement by the federal government has not improved education in America.  Something you might share with your friends who call for more federal government programs.

Wow. I didn't realize that the results were that depressingly laughable. Ugh.

That's because our government tries to educate everyone from the very gifted to those with mental retardation. And we find a way to test them all. Not saying we shouldn't educate everyone, but we need to stop expecting everyone to be at the top. That doesn't even make sense, statistically. Some people ARE smarter than others.
Not to mention some of the tests are measuring abstract concepts that most students just don't care about.
I hope to homeschool my youngest (and leave teaching) not because my older ones aren't learning in school, but because it is just so much more efficient. I could accomplish in 3 or 4 hours, what takes all day in a school setting, and give the kids some freedom to explore what they want.
