Looks interesting - any tried this out?
Instapundit recently had a link to a Youtube video. I noticed the video was made in part by Xtranormal. Their tag line is:
If you can type you can make movies...
It looks interesting. I was wondering, has anyone used their software?
Not nearly enough fine control ...which is to be expected of a text-based filmmaking process.
Video is a visual medium, so building movies off text is fundamentally the wrong way to go about it (which, interestingly enough, shed's light on the oddity of scripts).
Good acting really helps your story. As good as computers are at properly reading text, the human emotion necessary for empathy is missing.
I've found that if you take the time to write a good script, shooting it is much faster than fiddling with the program.
...of course, if you have no camera, no actors, no props... this is an interesting way to produce clips.
My daughter used this to do a report for school. It was much more popular with her to do this creative presentation! http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/5878745/ I don't know about making movies with it, but it's a great tool for school.

I toyed with it a little. General impressions:
