Ronald Reagan on Socialized Medicine

I have great concerns with the current push for nationalized health care. I was surprised to find this isn't a new idea. Ronald Reagan addressed this back in 1961:

Australia has it and I can't imagine otherwise. I had to help raise thousands of dollars, and he had to raise thousands more himself, for an american friend with a life threatening issue, because he was a student instead of being employed. I can't imagine how heartbreaking it must be for those of us in the lower class in america, if there is a serious illness, to have the concern of money in the back of their minds. What if they can't afford it? What happens to the man needing a lifesaving operation who is unemployed due to the illness? The last thing I want to be concerned about if a member of my family is dying is money.

I'm glad to know if I break my arm it's not going to cost me the other arm and a leg to get it fixed here in oz.

It's like everything else, wether this is good or not people resist change.
