This is a great line: An Experience is Worth 1,000 Textbook Pages
Many of the schools in our local district are on a year-round schedule. I feel so sorry for those kids in not getting the summer off for travel, camp, museum visits, and other experiential learning.
There's an interesting statistic in Richard Nisbett's book Intelligence and How to Get It that talks about how IQ actually increases over the summer for upper-middle class kids. To me, the benefits of experiential learning is so obvious. It's too bad the educrats don't agree :-(
