Space Access 2009 - Misuzu Onuki - Current Status Of Japanese Space Venture Companies

Misuzu Onuki said that when many think about Asian space development, they often think about China and India first. Japan does have a space program. They have eight astronauts. In 2008 they passed some space laws.

Even the big companies in Japan are starting to explore next generation space. Some big companies have entrepreneurs who are pushing for investing in space.

Some companies are working with universities, for example HASTIC.

There are a few space focused company, like PD Aerospace.

Misuzu said there are a few space niche markets, like space beer, and space fashions.

The Japanese media has been more interested in space and space activities.
