Space Access 2009 - Dave Masten of Masten Space

Dave Matsen started by talking a bit about his company, Masten Space. It is a small space company; they have a five member team. They are in Mojave.

They have a third generation igniter. They sold one, and the customer is very happy with it.

Here is one of their rockets:

They have a five hundred pound thrust engine. They developed their first vehicle, 0.1. It died. They were able to reuse the engines. Their engines have suffered a lot of abuse. They are redesigning their vehicle, with a 750 pound thrust engine. In one week they did sixty tests of the engine! It is an all aluminum engine.

Mike took over, he is in charge of business development for Matsen Space. They could break even soon.

Ben showed off their engine. He gave some technical details. Their target date for flying a single version of the engine is this month.

Dave asked the bloggers stop while he expressed some concern about paperwork.

After a few minutes the three of them started taking questions.

Henry Vanderbilt made some suggestions on how to save money on buying helium. It sounds like there are now two fuel suppliers at Mojave.
