As a teenager I was active in Boy Scouts at church. As I drew closer to turning sixteen my parents told me I could drive the family car if I could demostrate that I was responsible. They suggested that one way to show I was responsible was to earn my Eagle Scout award. I earned it.

Good post. I find many parallels between libertarian thought and the teachings of the Boy Scouts of America.
I'm a scoutmaster, Eagle Scout, and the father of two daughters who are both Boy Scouts. I'm also the webmaster for the NJ Libertarian Party.
There is great value in Boy Scouts. They teach boys responsibility, expose them to a wide variety of subjects, and keep them busy during their teenage years.
