The start of something big: Manufacture and Sell Anything — in Minutes

Manufacture and Sell Anything — in Minutes is about how the design, built, and sell product cycle has shrunk from months and even years down to minutes.

I'll see if my daughters want to try making something out of this for a summer job.

Thanks for the great link...I just sent it to my woodworker hubby and my two artistic daughters.

We use a similar method with our publishing business. If someone buys one of my homeschooling books from Rainbow Resource or another catalog, they'll get a book we had printed, stored here, and shipped to the catalog company. But if they buy one from Amazon (there's a direct link on my blog), it will not actually be printed until they place their order, and then it will be shipped directly to them. It does not come through here. Saves us time, and you well know how much we busy homeschooling families appreciate time savings!

The next twenty years are going to be fascinating from a product development standpoint. "The Long Tail" explains how changes in technology now allow a small niche producer to connect with the few customers in the world that are interested in his product.

Good luck.
