Surprising news - Utah dramatically rejects vouchers

I think this is going to be a setback for the voucher movement.

The Salt Lake Tribune is reporting that Vouchers go down in crushing defeat:

"More than 60 percent of voters were rejecting vouchers, with about 95 percent of the precincts reporting, according to unofficial results. The referendum failed in every county, including the conservative bastion of Utah."

I was suprised that it wasn't a closer contest.

We've blogged several times about the benefits of vouchers. I believe a good voucher system would have a dramatic improvement in the overall education of America. But as I wrote almost two years ago I don't believe vouchers will happen any time soon.
