I'm glad he wasn't described as a homeschooler

I read this news story:

Police Arrest Mother of Boy Who Planned Shooting

Buried in the story is this information:

The boy, whose name was withheld because he is a minor, attended the middle school associated with Plymouth Whitemarsh High School until 18 months ago, when his parents began schooling him at home because he was being bullied by other students, the police said. He tried to recruit another onetime student at the school to join him in the attack, they said, and that former student alerted the police.

I'm glad the headline didn't read "Homeschooler planned attack at school."

In fact, I'm surprised that it was barely mentioned. Of course this might have something to do with the fact that he was driven to homeschooling by abuse at school.

Update:

Phil pointed me to this headline for the story:

'Bullied' Home Schooler Arrested After Cops Find Weapons Cache in Pennsylvania

Earlier today I read an article about this. Might've been through AP. Anyway, they did describe him as a homeschooler. I just rolled my eyes and took a deep breath.

Phil,

Thanks for the pointer. I googled "homeschooler gun arrested" and the headline popped right up.

18 months isn't even enough time to deschool. Well, evidently.

I'm surprised this deranged boy wasn't championed as a home schooler by the msm.

Not that the msm is biased or anything..../sarc off/

I’ll start my broken record again: This is another in a long, seemingly never ending, almost predictably re-occurring series of bloody tragedies that plague government schools. Yet, we the people, keep shuffling our most prized progeny into these ‘russian roulette’ centers of random violence.

If this horrible pattern of bloody assaults were to occur at a church, youth organization, or private school there would be such a leftist-utopian scream of condemnation and cry for retribution that would have any administrator, supporter, or financier associated with such private enterprise tarred, feathered and banished to the darkest margins of society, if not imprisoned.

Yet, we the people, bow down before the alter of the NEA & tax funded ‘public’ education that includes all, offends none, accepts everything, and only occasionally murders our children, because we are a compassionate, open minded, and ‘enlightened’ society.

Open yer wallets and place your bets, parents……

The headline for the small piece in Montana pointed out that he was a homeschooler. A bit aggravating since he has only been home a short time, and homeschooling has little to do with the fact that his mother bought him a 9mm assault rifle. Big sigh when I saw the headline.

I saw that little fact, too...

Hey, does anyone remember that Shawn Hornbeck was described to neighbours as "homeschooling" so that Devlin wouldn't be caught for kidnapping, etc.?? I was a bit worried that "they" might use this bit of information to make parents "register" their children here in Missouri... Thankfully it must have been realized that this was an extremely rare/strange instance by most people though.

No, I missed that fact. I thought he had gone to school. I thought I read somewhere that he even had a myspace page.

The other thing the MSM did was harp on the scary weapons cache--every one of which, but one, turned out to be just a bb gun or paint ball gun. Did you hear that explained?

Sheesh!
