Our crazy life has gone from a 6.1 to 7.0 on a chaos Richter scale

Janine and I normally live pretty packed lives. We try to get lots done. We aim for a balance, but it often seems like we shoot for too many activities.

For us the Fall season largely rotates around soccer. All three of our daughters are in recreational soccer. They enjoy it. For the last four years I’ve been coaching my youngest daughter’s team. The first year was a bit extra crazy because I also coached my middle daughter’s team. When the girls are in the five to eight year old range I still know more than them. Most of the season is spent teaching them the basics like dribbling, passing, and throw-ins.

Last week the coach for my oldest daughter’s team quit. The woman was six or seven months pregnant. She gave it a good shot, but decided she wasn’t up to handling the hours of practice during the week, and the games on Saturday.

I was drafted to coach. I now have two teams. Practices go from 5:00 to 7:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There is preparation for both the practices and games. There is a lot of coordination in working with the parents, the league, and the other teams.

I think the season will go well, but I’m now counting the days to when soccer season is over. Wish us luck.

Good luck, but as with all things, this season too will soon be over.

And you just might miss some of it.
