Ms. Pharr vs. the Rogue School Board

Paul Jacobs reports for Common Sense on Ms. Pharr vs. the Rogue School Board.

In short the Eanes Independent School District in Texas was having some financial trouble. Ms. Pharr did some investigation and offered to help. The school district turned down her help. Ms. Pharr wanted to inform others so she published the information on a web site. The school retaliated by released private medical information on her son. Ms. Pharr was then dragged into court by the school district, she won, but now the school district is appealing.

This abuse of power is scary. The sad thing is historically government organizations often get away with it. Ms. Pharr is trying to get the US Department of Education to hold the school district accountable to the law. Paul Jacobs writes:

"You can make a difference in encouraging such an investigation by emailing or calling Education Secretary Margaret Spelling. Email her at margaret.spellings@ed.gov or you can call to leave a message with her office at 202-401-3000. Ask her to take action to hold the Eanes Independent School District accountable to the law."
