I know that this post is several years old but I felt I need to comment. I was considered learning disabled in school from second to eigth grade. I did recieve some special help and accomadations were made for me. Without this help I would not have been a successful student. I was not lazy, my mind simply did not understand the information in the way it was presented. I am now a college graduate now with a degree in education. I understand that more money does need to be spent on gifted students. I don't think we can discredit all the good that special education funding does.
Thank you for your blog. I do not have any children now but am planning on homeschooling my children.
