Treasures from google alerts: 19 rounds,

Here are some of the treasures I have found via Google Alerts.

Home-schoolers spell s-u-c-c-e-s-s is the story of two homeschoolers who knocked everyone else out of the competition and then went head to head for 19 rounds. Part of the fun is the two girls are good friends. They gave each other high-fives during the competition.

I respect Oprah Winfrey for being willing to put her money forward. It seems like many people will say there is a problem and then expect the government to fix in. In Oprah opens second SA school is an account of Oprah going to Africa to set up another school.

One of my google alerts has a pattern of bully school. Normally the hits are about students who are picking on other students. NYPD workers accused of being quick to bully students is about how the New York Civil Liberties Union is complaining that the 4,827 school safety agents are being aggressive and treating the students like criminals. That is a lot of safety agents. There are towns that don't have that many people.

One of the nice things about homeschooling is children and teenagers can start trying to do something useful and interesting, without having to put in their term of 12 or 16 years. In CNY teen is knocking on Hollywood's door is a mention of Sammy Scott, a 16 year girl who won the award "Screenwriter of the Week" Feb. 28 for MovieMaker magazine.
