The Thinking Mother has a lot of information about the Junior First LEGO League. If you have children who love to play with LEGOs you might want to check the post.

In On Diets and Homeschooling Spunky has some great advice for first time homeschoolers. One of the key points Spunky makes is: "... the results of a drastic change in learning habits are not always immediate and obvious." When switching to homeschooling parents need to recognize that it may take time before the benefits are visible.

I liked this quote: "The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next." by Abraham Lincoln. (Hat tip: Spunky)

As homeschoolers my wife and I are often looking for ways to teach our daughters. Valerie Moon posted about a mother teaching her son basic entrepreneur skills - selling lemonade on a hot day.

And when men with guns come around telling the mother and child they need "permission" to sell lemonade, it will be a valuable civics lesson on what a great, free country we live in.
