Neal Boortz writes about profound child abuse: "Here we go again. Across the country on this day millions of parents who should know better will commit an act of profound child abuse as they take the most precious things in their lives -- their children -- and send them to the government to be educated." Neal expands this thought. (Hat tip: Patricia Ann's Pollywog Creek Porch, which will be hosting the Carnival of Homeschooling next week.)

Dave Sifry announces that Technorati is now three years old. They are tracking 50,000,000 blogs! Pretty amazing. If you haven't registered your blog with Technorati, go here. By creating an account with Technorati you can give it the tags or keywords that reflect the topics you normally blog about. This helps generate better matches when people do searches, and I think will increase your traffic.

Mother Tenn makes a good point in One Opinion Matters that often one person can accomplish more than you might expect. So blog another post, write your congressman, talk to the store owner, go out and make a difference.

It looks like Kim Anderson, of Mother-Lode, is going to tease us. Two weeks ago she posted that her daughter had won over a half a million dollars in scholarship offers. Then last week she posted one of the steps: Assess your starting point. It looks like we'll just have to go back every couple days to get the full story. (Maybe this is a plot to increase her traffic?)

The Guardian had a fascinating list of Fifteen Webites that changed the world. I enjoyed reading the history of Blogger. (Hat tip: Isn't It Rich)

I forget how I came across this post: The Magic of the Family Meal. It reminds me of Miriam Weinstein's book: The Surprising Power of Family Meals, which I enjoyed. With homeschooling it doesn't have to be a battle for a family to eat together.

Thanks for stopping by, Henry. I'm slower than I'd like to be with the full story on the scholarship offers. Real life crashes in - in the form of freezer meltdowns, etc.

I am working on the rest of the scholarship posts as we speak... Stay tuned!
