The Headmistress, at The Common Room, has a good post about how to help your children develop a love for poetry. We tend to dabble in poetry during the summer. I'll select some poems for our daughters to memorize.
From Spunky: "David Boskovic has a two part interview up with Bill of Ask the Principal. As a public school principal, Bill shares his reasons to homeschool. This is an excellent interview from one of the blogosphere's best teen bloggers." I enjoyed the interview. Several studies have found that teachers are more likely to put their children in private schools than the general public.
Christine, The Thinking Mother, writes about a recent encounter with an After-schooler. An after-schooler is a parent who teaches their children in the afternoons and evenings what the public schools aren't teaching. I hope many parents can use after-schooling as a stepping stone, pulling their children completely from public school.

My wife and I got tired of being afterschoolers. Boy #1 was already worn out and cranky by that time. It's pretty easy to go from there to homeschool.
