At the following URL, you can see the scores and the percentage of students at each achievement level for the 44 states and the Department of Defense schools that volunteered to participate in the 2005 science assessment. California had one of the lowest scores for 8th grade students, while Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota had some of the highest scores. You can click on the chart to see the achievement levels of a variety of different groups. Notice how well the Department of Defense schools did.
