More information on homeschooling problems in Germany

In response to our post last week on Homeschool in Germany, go to jail, Gary Davis, of HomeSchoolBuzz.com, sent me a whole bunch of links to articles over the last couple years about homeschooling in Germany. Last year a number of parents were sent to jail. Here are some posts from 2004: one, two, three. Here are some more posts from 2005: one, two, three.

The first link leads to a chronology of one group's struggle with the German government to be allowed to homeschool their children. The last entry is dated February 2006 and says: "After a whole year of meetings and discussions, the Ministry of Education and the Community in Klosterzimmern agreed upon setting up a private school. We and our children are very happy about this and thank God for this solution." It looks like in some situations parents can teach their children at home.

And on a related note, Scatty, a homeschooling blogger in Germany has written more about the current situation, along with a plea for help.
