Isabel Lyman at The Homeschooling Revolution mentions home college. With the cost of getting an education at the college level continuing to climb faster than inflation I think online courses will take a bigger part role in education after high school.
The perception is that high school dropouts are often those who can't handle the work. Ed Wonk of The Education Wonks posts about an article on a recent survey by the Bill & Melissa Gates Foundation. The survey found that over half of the dropouts said part of the reason they left high school was because they weren't challenged.
