Why we educate our children

One of the mailing lists I am on is A.Word.A.Day. This is run by Anu Garg. An email is sent each day with:

1) A word
2) A definition
3) History of the word
4) A use of the word
5) An advertisement or two
6) An interesting quote, or something funny
7) Links to how to pronounce the word

I originally got on the mailing list for the humor. I use to collect clean jokes from dozens of sources around the internet. This Monday the quote was particularly interesting to me:

"A king can stand people fighting but he can't last long if people start thinking."
-Will Rogers, humorist (1879-1935)

By educating our children we make them more powerful. It is hard to control someone who has a education, and can think.

If you would like to join the A.Word.A.Day mailing list go to here.
