Michael Lach of Teach and Learn has a fun post about using chemical symbols to spell words. Michael noticed a mention on SlashDot about Mark Nandor, a chemistry teacher at The Wellington School, who published a list of English words that can be spelled just using chemical symbols. I was surprised that there were so many words, a total of 26,812!!!
DistrictAdministrationDaily found an article in USA Today about a program in Southern California at public schools which is pushing to give each student an Apple iBook G4 laptop. The wrinkle is this school district is asking the parents to pay $1500 for the laptops. It sounds like a sneaky way to tax the parents a second time.
